Jared Leto had been on the somewhat loaded list of actors being sought to play the title role in Marvel’s adaptation of Dr. Strange. Marvel may have found their man already leaving Leto to consider other available roles.
One such opportunity may be the role of The Joker in David Ayer’s adaptation of the DC Comics property, Suicide Squad. The Wrap reported that Ryan Gosling had been in talks for the part, but wasn’t interested in the multi movie option that would likely be attached.
Although Justin Marks’ screenplay didn’t originally include an appearance by the Joker, there are rumors that Ayers will be doing rewrites on the script that will bring The Joker into the mix.
Leto has been looking for a project to follow up his Oscar winning turn in The Dallas Buyers Club. Perhaps taking a shot at this iconic character portrayed by the likes of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger will be the challenge he’s looking for.
Neither Leto nor representatives for Warner Bros. have made any comment on the matter, which has become par for the course when dealing with casting rumors of late.
