There was excitement around Major League Baseball today, especially for Cincinnati Reds fans. Hunter Greene the team’s top prospect made his first career start against the Atlanta Braves.
Greene did not disappoint by any stretch of the imagination and he picked up the win. He went five innings giving up three runs on four hits, while striking out seven and walking two. His first career strike out was of Braves first basemen Matt Olson on a 100-mile-per hour fastball that he swung right through.
Still the start also showed that he has a learning curve as well. As Olson as good hitters do made the necessary adjustments singling in the fourth inning and then taking him deep for a solo home run in the fifth inning. Travis d’Arnaud leadoff leadoff that same inning with a solo home run of his own. Atlanta got on the board in the previous inning on a sacrifice fly by Marcell Ozuna.
The Reds gave their phenom solid run support which allowed him to pick up the victory. With MLB having outstanding young talent in the likes of Greene, Wander Franco, Bobby Witt Jr, Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Cristian Pache, Josh Lowe, and Riley hopefully it will help fans forget about the lockout that delayed the 2022 season from starting.
Also, Here are some of the reactions to the performance of Greene on social media.
Still can’t believe how awesome Hunter Greene was today.

Hunter Greene lit up the radar as expected in his @MLB debut, delivering 20 pitches at 100+ mph, the seventh-most by a starter since Statcast began recording data in 2008.
