A battle between two teams that lost in week one. The Jacksonville Jaguars will head out west to take on the San Diego Chargers, who will be without star wideout Keenan Allen for the rest of the season because of a torn ACL suffered against the Chiefs. The Jaguars battled the Green Bay Packers hard in week one but came up short losing 27-23. Meanwhile, the Chargers crumbled, as they led the Chiefs big at halftime before eventually losing 33-27 in overtime.

The Chargers do not have much of defense. So they are going to have to rely on Philip Rivers and their offense, without their best player, to win most games. They travel home to the west coast this week, and that is reflected in the three points they have to lay this week. Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead will need to contribute if the team wants to pull out the win. Rivers will not have many trusted targets outside aging tight end, Antonio Gates.

So the bottom line is this is a game where the Chargers need to show what they can do the rest of the season minus Allen, especially after last weeks collapse.

The Jaguars, on the other hand, are loaded with young talent. Blake Bortles, Allen Robinson, TJ Yeldon, and Julius Thomas are just the start of an offense that can throw up big numbers against any team. The defense also has its fair share of young talent, even though that side of the ball did not get to shine last week against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. But the Chargers offense is not as prolific as Green Bay’s, and the Jaguars defense may get a chance to prove themselves this week.

I honestly do not have a great feel on the over/under for this one. But since I could see the Chargers failing to hit 20, I will lean towards a lower score.

Line: SD -3, O/U: 47

Pick: Jaguars and the under

Result: SD 38 – Jax 14, Chargers and the over
