The defending national champion, Florida State Seminoles suspended reigning Heisman Trophy quarterback Jameis Winston for the first half of their up-coming game vs. 22nd-ranked Clemson for using an inflammatory epithet aimed at women Wednesday.
Per reports, Florida State Seminoles head coach, Jimbo Fisher said on an ACC tele-conference meeting Wednesday that in wake of reports of Winston jumping on a table in the FSU student union and yelling an obscene phrase.
The defending national champions and their quarterback could be on the sidelines for their first conference game against the 22nd-ranked Clemson Tigers on Saturday.
Fisher in regards to the incident that happened Tuesday stated, “It was not a good decision” and would follow up his comments by stating,
“You can’t make certain statements that are derogatory or inflammatory to any person, race or gender. You have to understand that.”
Reportedly, The Winston tirade was in reference to an Internet meme gag, Fisher would go on to add “You have to be very intelligent about what you say, (because) it matters.”
For the year, Winston is 47-of-67 for 626 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
