#1 Notre Dame will play #2 Alabama tonight in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.
Despite what the rankings suggest, Alabama appears to be the far superior team compared to the Fighting Irish, however Notre Dame’s offense could neutralize the Crimson Tide’s advantage.
Notre Dame senior tight end Tyler Eifert has been a tremendous difference maker for the Irish all season in their meteoric rise from unranked at the beginning of the season, to being ranked as the best team in the country and vying for the national championship at the conclusion of the regular season.
Look for Eifert to be an “X factor” for the Fighting Irish tonight, especially if they take advantage of Alabama’s weakness in coverages.
Alabama linebackers have been shredded by tight ends all season, particularly the Crimson Tide’s linebackers.
If Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly puts Eifert in one-on-one matchups, he could have a big impact for the Irish tonight.
Eifert is already a top target of Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson, racking up 624 receiving yards and four touchdowns on the season and could be a key redzone option for Golson throughout the game tonight and will have to have a big impact for Notre Dame to pull off the upset.
