NFL Mock Draft pre-Combine edititon
Which picks will shakeup the 2017 NFL Mock Draft, Pre-Combine Edition?

16th Pick: Baltimore Ravens- Sidney Jones (CB) – Washington

As a Ravens fan, I know how the defense turned out when Jimmy Smith was hurt. Tavon Young was nice but is a better fit at nickel due to his size. Jerraud Powers is a pending free agent and I do not think Shareece Wright is a starting caliber cornerback after last year. The biggest need for this team, in my opinion, is a number two and potential number one cornerback to play next to or in place of Jimmy Smith if he is unavailable. Sidney Jones one of the best cornerbacks in coverage in college football in his three-year career and according to PFF (Pro Football Focus),

“Washington CB Sidney Jones scared opposing offensive coordinators. Opposing teams only threw at Jones 48 times all year.”

Jones had his best year in 2015, as he had 4 interceptions and 10 pass deflections but 2016 was not that far off. As a complementary cornerback to develop to a number one cornerback, Jones is pretty much a complete cornerback as he is good in any coverage, has good mirroring ability, has a knack for forcing the football out, great ball skills, and is an intelligent player on the field with his outstanding awareness. While he does not have the ideal frame and could have trouble against bigger and more physical receivers, Jones plays with intensity and would be a great fit for Baltimore.
