According the newly-released Wells Report, the New England Patriots may have been aware of under-inflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game.
The independent investigator released his report early Tuesday, stating that it was probable and more than likely that the New England Patriots were involved in deflating some of the footballs used during the championship game against the Indianapolis Colts on purpose. Wells’ report would also state that Brady was likely aware of the inappropriate activities going on at the time.
With the Wells report now official, the new findings could raise new questions about whether the Patriots have used unfair methods to gain an unfair competitive advantage.
If so, the NFL could levy an unprecedented punishment on the team in the form of fines, forfeiting draft picks, player suspensions, etc.
