Thanks to her portrayal as Piper Chapman in the critically acclaimed Netflix drama/comedy, “Orange is the The New Black” Taylor Schilling is primed to get her close-up.
The 29-year-old native of Boston would be nominated for an Emmy for her breakout turn of Chapman, a bi-sexual upper-class New York-area woman sentenced to 15 months in prison for illegally transporting a suitcase of drugs and money for her lover, Alex Vause (Laura Prepon)
Based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, Orange Is The New Black: My Year In A women’s Prison, the Jenji Kohan(Weeds)created dark comedy has helped propel Schilling into the tier of quality actresses to watch in Hollywood, because if you haven’t watched Orange is the New Black or seen Schilling, you need to do yourself a favor and do both.
Before Orange Is The New Black, Schilling would also star in Dark Matter, Mercy, Atlas Shrugged: Part 1, Argo opposite Ben Affleck and The Lucky One opposite Zac Efron.
In addition to being nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Schilling would also net a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama. Schilling would be nominated for—and win—The Satellite Award and Webby Award for Best Actress.
