It took nearly nine minutes for the San Jose Sharks to register a shot on goal in the first period against the Chicago Blackhawks.
From that point on though the Sharks dominated. Defenseman Erik Karlsson played a key role with an assist on the first goal and after an official scoring changed got credited for the second goal.
Any thought of a victory quickly diminished in the second period. San Jose still looked good, until a careless mistake gave Jonathan Toews an easy goal scoring opportunity that he did not miss. After Chicago got penalized for too many men on the ice what happened next?
The Sharks power play once again showcased how pathetic it is. No one hustled to get the puck allowing the Blackhawks to patiently wait for an easy goal scoring opportunity shorthanded. Sam Lafferty got a nice gift as Kaapo Kahknonen had no chance of stopping the puck.
Not even two minutes later though, Laffety once again scored shorthanded as the boos started from Sharks fans. Yet when it is all said and done this was a perfect tribute to former general manager Doug Wilson who was honored by the franchise tonight.
A Sharks team that does not make an effort and shows little to no heart. Where have the fans seen that before? Oh! right under Wilson’s watch.
If there is one person to blame why this Sharks team is 0-4, it is because of Wilson. He is the reason this team is the worst in the National Hockey League.
Unfortunately for current general manager Mike Grier he has his work cut out for him.
