Earlier in the college football season Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho tweeted this “with National Championship hopes gone, Caleb Williams should consider sitting out the rest of the season. The Heisman is a long shot, CFB Playoffs are even less likely, and he won’t play in the bowl game. The risk of playing FAR outweighs the reward. Business decision.”

Sure there are those around college football who understand why Acho made the suggestion as there is always a risk of Williams suffering a serious injury. He is also arguably one of the most talented quarterbacks to play and is easily the no.1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

It also means that Williams was playing this year for selfish reasons, which was to win the Heisman Trophy Award in back-to-back seasons. A national title, icing on the cake. Yet the USC Trojans have also struggled mightily defensively especially in the last 6 games with opponents averaging 44 points per game.

So it is not surprising that USC is 3-3 in their last six games.

As for Williams he still has been great though he did struggle in the Trojans loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He threw for 199 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. Against the Utah Utes he threw for 256 yards and only had one touchdown which was with his legs.

He bounced back against the University of California throwing for 369 yards and two touchdowns, he also ran two in for touchdowns. Arguably he outplayed now leading Heisman candidate Michael Penix Jr, as he threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns and ran one in.

Penix Jr on the other hand threw for 256 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran one in.

Still Williams needs to get thanked by college football fans, not torn down. After the Trojans lost their third game of the season, the camera panned to him. He had found his mother and is being comforted by her as he cries.

Of course that is when certain comments being to start. Apparently some were deleted, this one for example was not.

What Williams actions proves here is that he cares about his team and winning. So once again a thank you is owed to him, as he could have easily been selfish and in it for only himself and not care about the results on way or the other. Then again, guaranteed that the ones criticizing the reaction are the same ones likely to cry and make excuses for why their favorite team ended up losing.
