Week six for the Pac-12 is officially over. Find out which team once again disappointed and which one will continue to climb in the rankings after another impressive win over a ranked team.
USC
The Trojans took care of the pesky Washington State Cougars 30-14.
At halftime USC led 17-14, and shutout Washington State in the second half. Caleb Williams was far from impressive in the victory throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns yet only completed 15 of 29 passes. Running back Travis Dye impressed with 28 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown.
In the loss the Cougars struggled protecting quarterback Cameron Ward who threw for only 172 yards and was sacked five times. Offensively running back Jaylen Jenkins shined yet did not see enough carries as he ran for 130 yards on 13 carries. He also caught two passes for 54 yards.
Oregon
So far the Ducks have not taken a bad conference loss. Quarterback Bo Nix had another big game with three rushing touchdowns and 70 yards rushing while also throwing for 265 yards. Running backs Noah Whittington, Jordan James, and Bucky Irving combined for 28 carries, 228 yards and three touchdowns.
For the Wildcats, quarterback Jayden de Laura threw for 241 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Running backs Jonah Coleman and DJ Williams did end up combining for15 carries, 139 yards, and a touchdown.
UCLA
The Bruins offense took it to the Utah Utes defense, scoring 42 points. Chip Kelly is once again proving that he is one of the better coaches in all of college football and after his team beat the 11th ranked team in the country his team will once again jump in the rankings especially after back-to-back wins against two teams in the top 15.
Bruins quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was impressive with five total touchdowns (four passing, one rushing), his only blemish was once the game was out of hand and the score was 42-25, he threw a pick six. The Utes could not stop running back Zach Charbonnet who ended up with 22 carries for 198 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Cameron Rising rushed for two touchdowns, yet did not throw one. He was efficient completing 23 of 32 passes, yet did throw an interception.
Washington
The Huskies were flying high, quarterback Michael Penix seemed like a dark horse candidate for the Heisman, yet two weeks has changed all that. Arizona State has come up with the biggest upset of the Pac-12 season so far.
Penix did finish with 311 yards passing, yet did not throw for a touchdown and was intercepted once.
The Sun Devils lost quarterback Emory Jones in the second quarter after he took a hit to the head. Trenton Bourguet took over threw for 182 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Running back Xazavian Valladay carried the ball 23 times for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Oregon State
The Beavers and Stanford Cardinal provided the most exciting ending of the Pac-12’s games on Saturday as Trey’Shaun Harrison caught a game-winning 56-yard touchdown with 32 seconds left.
