Reports out of Europe are suggesting that Arsenal are interested in making a bid for Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo.
The 26-year-old Gustavo has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern with the new singing of Thiago Alcantara and Pep Guardiola’s change in tactics. Bundesliga side Wolfsburg has been after the defensive midfielder’s signature for sometime now. It is believed Gustavo will hold out to try to join a Premier League side.
Chelsea and Arsenal are both believed to be very interested in the young defensive playmaker.
Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board must be feeling an extreme amount of pressure to sign someone after Liverpool told the Gunners they will not sell striker Luis Suarez. Adding Gustavo to the Gunners midfield would enable Mikel Arteta to play further up the pitch, where he is much more useful.
Also the defensive mid role is very thin now for the Gunners as Abou Diaby is injured and seems to always be injured.
Signing Gustavo would greatly improve Arsenal’s defense and allow stronger players to move forward in the attack. Wenger must make a signing or two before the transfer window closes and this should be one of them.
