OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — With the 2025 NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder set to tip off tonight? Here are my thoughts and offical prediction of how the Finals will go.

The East champion Pacers, who defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, 64-win Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks en route to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000, ar led by mercurial point guard Tyrese Halliburton and the NBA-best scoring offense, which is rewriting records and strategy of how to place a true pace-and-space style of basketball.

In the case of the 68-win Oklahoma City Thunder, thanks to being led by newly-crowned Canadian-born NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (29.8 points, 6.9 assists) , Chet Holmgren (16.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks) a smoldering tenacious defense, the Thunder are four wins away from claiming the franchise’s second NBA title, and first since moving to the Great Plains back in 2000.

This series has a classic best offense vs. best defense kind of vibe behind it. And if that’s the case, the Thunder have the tools to slow down the Pacers frenetic pace.

This series will come down to three individuals. Luguentz Dort, Jaylen Williams and SGA, who will likely rotate in defending and taking away Halliburton.

Halliburton, who has quickly emerged into one of the league’s budding next superstars leads the Pacers in assists (9.8) and second in scoring (18.8), is the engine that drives the “Indy 500” Pacers.

The main man for the Pacers is power forward, Pascal Siakam, a 2019 NBA champion via the Toronto Raptors, who leads Indiana in points (21.1) and rebounds (5.8). If either Halliburton or Siskam get off, then the Pacers have a puncher’s chance in this series.

This is where the Thunder’s defense and depth may prove to be too much.

In addition to the 6’6 SGA, Oklahoma City has the 6’9 Jaylin Williams, the 7’1 Holmgren and the 7’0 Isaiah Hartenstein to throw at Siakam.

While Halliburton and the Pacers come into this series averaging 117.4 points a game, the Thunder counter at scoring 120.1 points, with a better defense and more depth.

I would be remiss in not mentioning the effect of coaching, which is on the Pacers side in champion head coach Rick Carlisle, who helped lead the Dallas Mavericks to an upset win over the LeBron James-led Miami Heat super team.

However, under Mark Daigeneault, a deep and talented roster, and arguably the league’s most intimidating home court advantage, the Thunder are set to roll, and usher in the NBA’s next potential dynasty.

Prediction: Thunder in five.
