Jennifer Lawrence is already Hollywood’s golden girl, America’s sweetheart, and has an Oscar to her credit. Oh. let’s not forget her philanthropic nature since she is active involvement with such organizations as The Thirst Project, the World Food Programme, Feeding America, and is and ambassador for the Special Olympics
What other accomplishment could Ms. Lawrence be looking to add to her already impressive resume? How about adding a top 20 hit song, just for good measure? According to Billboard that’s exactly what she’s done.
Lawrence’s recording of the song “The Hanging Tree” is featured on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 1 – Original Motion Picture Score, which was released Nov. 24th of 2014. As of Sunday the song was shown to have made its way to the 14th spot on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.. It fared slightly better on ARIA’s Australian Top 50 Singles Chart taking the 12th spot on the chart.
The song was written as a collaborative effort by Suzanne Collins, who penned the Hunger Games book series, with Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers. The musical accompaniment for the song was orchestrated by James Newton Howard.
“It’s heard in the film first as an a cappella performance by Lawrence (in character as Katniss), before she is joined by a choir and an orchestra.”
Lawrence is hopeful that her song can perform as well on the U.S. charts and will perhaps make it onto the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart , preferably somewhere in the top-40. This is just one more accomplishment that should instill this talented young actress with a great deal of pride.
