The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have yet another player to earn an award within the Texas League. Outfielder Scott Heineman has been named the Texas League Player of the week. He joins a few fellow RoughRiders in earning Texas League Awards this season.
From the Frisco RoughRiders release:
Heineman batted .538 (14-26) with three doubles, a home run, and five RBIs, recording hits in all seven games. The first-year Riders outfielder scored eight runs and walked three times, pushing his on-base streak to 14 games. Heineman led all Minor League Players of the Week with a .600 on-base percentage and was tied for the most hits.
This is Heineman’s second weekly award of his career, having earned California League Player of the Week with Advanced-A High Desert last July. He is the second Riders position player to earn the honor this season. Riders outfielder/infielder Royce Bolinger took home the league’s award June 5.
