Hospitality is one of the oldest industries in the world. It goes back to the ancient times of taverns and inns providing respite to travelers and locals alike. As the world progressed, the hospitality industry advanced as well, bringing new methods and strategies to ensure a booming business and maximum customer satisfaction. Steve Sidd is an eminent name in the Australian hospitality business, known for his excellent work ethic and entrepreneurial skills. Since opening his own restaurant at the age of 18, Sidd has revolutionized the way hospitality businesses are approached and run.

Growing up with a father who owned a restaurant, Sidd developed an affinity for running a restaurant and providing above-standard services to customers. He preferred the rush of the restaurant’s kitchen over going out with his friends. At the age of 18, Sidd decided to revamp a deserted fruit shop into his own restaurant. His father advised him to have a strong business plan before diving into the industry.

This advice set the trajectory for Sidd’s career as a capable hospitality entrepreneur. He began to understand that beyond the surface-level services of a café or a restaurant, there is a strong business plan and disciplined work ethic. He also realized the importance of becoming directly involved in the business, connecting with employees and clients on a personal level.

After the successful establishment of his restaurant, Sidd opened more restaurants and cafes, keeping his policy of a sound business plan and personal involvement at the base. Unlike other food chains, he disliked the idea of becoming a franchise, where owners are simply limited to a name on contracts. He made sure that all his employees knew him by face and name, coming to him for the smallest of problems.

After making his name as a restaurant mogul in Sydney, Sidd decided to expand his business. He undertook a failing club on the Northern Beaches in Sydney and presented them with a business plan based on facts and realistic goals. He discovered that, though Australia has many high-end clubs, the catering in these clubs is often below standard. Keeping his experience with his own restaurant in mind, he changed the catering service and thus transformed a failing business into a roaring success.

He has since taken more clubs under his wing, signing catering contracts left and right due to his dedication to going above client expectations and changing the dynamics of the business at molecular level.

Currently, his venture Catering HQ provides several services in the hospitality business, including catering for venues, events and providing consultations for other clubs, restaurants and more. The company also operates over 40 event venues, has created 26 dining concepts, and has over 350 employees. Utilizing his experience and business ethic, Sidd makes sure that the risks in a business are mediated, while also providing a novel experience to the clients through food and ambience.
