With the Minnesota Vikings coming off a bye, Christian Ponder nursing a broken rib, and Josh Freeman still learning the playbook, Matt Cassel will start against the Carolina Panthers.

Per the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier announced that Matt Cassel will get the start on Sunday against the Panthers.  This writer agrees with this move for various reasons.

Cassel has a strong voice in the huddle and shows true signs of leadership.  With players such as Greg Jennings and Adrian Peterson stating publicly that Cassel was strong and vocal in the huddle.  Freeman will offer great competition going forward, However, starting Cassel Sunday will give the team the best chance to win this week as he is more knowledgeable and comfortable with the Vikings offense.
