Interviewer: Olga, could you share with us your philosophy on entrepreneurship, especially in the demanding field of STEM?

Olga: Certainly. My approach to entrepreneurship is all about routine, consistency, and self-discipline. In the fast-paced world of STEM, success isn’t about random sparks of genius; it’s about a methodical pursuit of goals and disciplined strategy implementation. This philosophy isn’t confined to my professional life; it’s a principle I apply in all aspects, ensuring productivity and focus whether I’m working or spending time with my family.

Interviewer: Speaking of family, how do you balance your professional achievements with your family life?

Olga: Balancing a demanding career with family life is a universal challenge, and I approach it much like my business strategy – with meticulous planning and prioritization. I ensure quality time for my family just as diligently as I manage resources for my business. It’s about continually striving for harmony and making adjustments as needed. There are times when one aspect demands more attention, but it’s all part of the journey.

Interviewer: Could you describe a typical day in your life, balancing this routine and flexibility?

Olga: My days usually start with family time, followed by a structured workday where I focus on various aspects of my business, like evaluating new STEM projects or strategizing on innovation commercialization. However, I always stay adaptable. If my family needs me or an urgent business matter arises, I’m prepared to shift gears. This blend of routine and flexibility is key to maintaining balance.

Interviewer: As a woman in a leadership role in STEM, what has your journey been like?

Olga: The STEM field, often male-dominated, presents unique challenges for women. I’ve navigated these challenges and managed to break barriers, setting new standards for what women can achieve in STEM and entrepreneurship. My journey serves as an inspiration, showing that professional success and a fulfilling family life can coexist. I also provide a free program called ‘EmpowerHer STEM Mentorship Program,’ a dedicated initiative designed to empower and support young women as they pursue successful careers in STEM fields.

Interviewer: And what are your personal insights into entrepreneurship?

Olga: I see entrepreneurship as a mindset, not just the act of starting and running a business. It’s about recognizing opportunities, taking calculated risks, and staying resilient. My journey reflects these beliefs, with each venture and project being a testament to my entrepreneurial spirit.

Interviewer: How does your family life intertwine with your professional life?

Olga: Family life for me is about sharing and learning. My family is my anchor and inspiration. The experiences I share with them not only provide support but also enrich my perspective, enhancing my leadership and innovation skills. I also see my role as a mother and wife as an opportunity to instill values like hard work, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence.

Interviewer: Finally, what would you say your story offers to aspiring entrepreneurs and working parents?

Olga: There is definitely an art to harmonizing a demanding career with family responsibilities. You absolutely must prioritize. You have to decide what is most important to you. For me, family comes first. The work that I do is meant to support and uplift my family, not take me away from them. There will be compromises, and sometimes that’s okay. As long as in the end your children know that they are number one, you’re okay to keep juggling.

Olga’s story serves as a source of practical lessons and motivation, illustrating that through disciplined application, resolute determination, and strategic planning, one can thrive in both the professional sphere and family life. She has reimagined the concept of success, and she’s demonstrated that true accomplishment involves crafting a life that is fulfilling both in one’s career and personal life. Her career is a guide to those endeavoring to master the intricate balance between the rigors of entrepreneurship and the joys and commitments of family. And she stresses that it is possible to achieve a well-rounded and satisfying life.
