Daredevil has been a monstrous success for both Marvel and Netflix. The popularity and critical acclaim for its first season has fast tracked the series for a second set of episodes.

And while many Matt Murdock faithful were pleased with the end result, there was one thing missing,  Elektra Natchios.

Marvel and Netflix listened to its many fans and are bringing the popular character to the small screen. So, who is the lucky actress that will take on the role? Her name is Elodie Yung, and while she might not be a main attraction, there is still a lot to like about this up-and-coming starlet.

The half Cambodian-French Yung is a Paris-born actress that hasn’t really gained popularity in America. Most of her career has been spent across the pond, where she studied at the University of La Sorbonnne.

She also shares something in common with Matt Murdock himself, she has a degree in law.

There have been a few notable American roles for Yung. She was featured in the film adaptation of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, playing Miriam Wu. Her most notable role has been that of Jinx in the popular G.I. Joe film franchise. G.I. Joe was the perfect film for Yung, as she got to put her background in karate to good use.

The 34-year-old has a black belt, and isn’t afraid to kick some serious butt. This is a good sign for Daredevil fans, as she will no doubt bring the right amount of flair to Elektra.

Jeph Loeb, the Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television believes Yung is the ideal choice to play Elektra. He shared his thoughts about the actress, and how she will fit in with the already established cast.

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie [Cox] as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

Yung is the complete package, a woman that can hold her own in a fight, but also be the most glamorous woman in a room full of beauties. Marvel is always meticulous with their casting, and Yung is without question going to prove them right once again.
