The sci-fi film, Ex Machina, has gained quite a following over the last two months. The film, which was released on April 10th, has grossed over $20 million domestically, and has been a hit for distributor A24. While the picture is drawing rave reviews, so is its wonderfully-gifted cast, especially Alicia Vikander.
Vikander is on the path to super-stardom in American cinema. Besides Ex Machina, Vikander was also featured in another 2015 film, Seventh Son. Despite the movie performing poorly at the box office, the big studio release drew the attention of a more mainstream audience than that of Ex Machina.
However, it’s not just the movie world that has taken notice of Vikander. She is a known name in the fashion world, being recently pegged as the new face of Louis Vuitton. Vikander has also been busy outside of her acting and fashion career, as she is currently dating actor Michael Fassbender.
Vikander’s looks and dating life aren’t what has brought her into the forefront of the pop culture world, she is an incredibly talented actress too. There is a lot of speculation that her film, The Danish Girl, will garner her quite a bit of Oscar buzz. The film which also stars Oscar Award Winner, Eddie Redmayne, hits theaters in November. Besides The Danish Girl, Vikander has one more film set to debut in 2015, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which stars Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill. In addition, she was just tabbed to play alongside Tom Hanks in the film, The Circle.
There is a bright future ahead for Vikander, not only as a movie star, but as a fashion icon. Ex Machina was a great introduction to the amazing ability of Alicia Vikander, but it’s safe to say she will be around for quite awhile longer.
