With Sami Chohfi, it would be difficult to distinguish between the traveler and the musician because his journeys to various parts of the world influence his songwriting. His music videos, which are all unique, show that he appears to be continuously pulling inspiration from what he sees around him. During one of the musician’s previous trips to India, two of the videos happened to be captured on camera in the days before the outbreak of the pandemic. Extraordinary World, his debut solo album, is a collection of tales he collected while touring Brazil, Armenia, Cambodia, India, Japan, and the Philippines.

As he was growing up in the 1990s, it is known that he used to wake up a little earlier so that he can catch the music on MTV an hour early before the school bus arrived. At the time Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, and Metallica used to be on air all the time. After constantly listening to 90’s grunge rock, Chohfi developed his interest in music and asked his mother to buy him a guitar on his birthday. He started to take vocal lessons with Susan Carr after being inspired by Chris Cornell’s singing.  Sami started to develop musical structures and write songs influenced by his idols.

He relocated to Seattle in 2000, just as the grunge rock movement was starting to fade. With a few other musicians who shared his interests, he formed the band “Blue Helix,” but it was never sustained because many of the members could not keep up with the traveling demands. Now, he performs as a solo artist and relies on session players wherever he puts on his show. Since 2008, Sami Chohfi has been a part of the Seattle rock group Blue Helix. In 2019, he made his solo debut with the single “It’s Just Me.” In addition to India, the Philippines, Japan, Armenia, and Cambodia, he has played in Las Vegas, Denver, Portland, Post Falls, Spokane, Tacoma, and Seattle. Additionally, Chohfi has had four tours in Brazil, the most recent of which was in 2022, when he gave 12 performances in 9 locations spread across four states.

Over 17,500 rotations of Chohfi’s songs on influential FM radio stations in Brazil include Little One, The Awakening, Tidal Wave, Dirty Your Soul, Sing You to Me, Anti-Social Butterfly and his cover of A-ha’s classic hit Take on Me. His music videos have been included on the Rolling Stone, MTV, Indie Gaga (India), Music Box Brazil, Canal Bis (Brazil), LATV, Music Choice, and many more illustrious publications.

Chohfi is all prepared to return to Brazil for his fifth tour in June 2023 after a fruitful nine-city run in 2022, where he had the chance to personally meet and interact with so many new fans. Chohfi has won numerous prizes from the ISSA and World Songwriting Awards thanks to his extensive musical experience. Additionally, Music Mafia Radio awarded him Male Vocalist of the Year 2022. The song Tidal Wave was played on Seal Team’s S5 E4 among many of his tracks that were played on well-known television shows. His music portrays various styles of rock from across different genres. His live performances around the world and growing fan base is proof that he is a rising songwriter of his Era.
