The NBA Trade Deadline is still a bit over two months from the time of this writing and there happen to be several NBA players who are being linked to being on the move in one capacity or another. One of the names being rumored to being on the move prior to the February 18th deadline is Andrew Bogut of the Dallas Mavericks. The two teams who have expressed interest in him are the Portland Trail Blazers and the Boston Celtics.

Bogut was moved last summer after the Warriors signed Kevin Durant and essentially needed to move Bogut and his $11 million dollar contract. The options he was given were the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets. It was reported by ESPN’s Tim McMahon that the Philadelphia 76ers were also expressing interest in Bogut, but the Warriors did not want to send him to a team that had zero chance of making it to the playoffs. He ended up being traded to the Mavericks.

However, a quarter of the way through the 2016 season is showing that going to the Mavericks may have been a mistake for Bogut. The Rockets are 15-7, the Sixers are 5-18, and the Mavericks are 4-17. They have a slew of injuries and are owners of the worst record in the NBA. Given that Dallas seems to be going nowhere and Bogut is heading towards free agency at the end of the season, the trade rumors are beginning to float.

On Friday, ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that the Boston Celtics and the Portland Trail Blazers have expressed interest in the 32-year-old player. It should be noted that the Blazers are need of a big man to help with rim protection. On the other side, it’s interesting that the Celtics are expressing interest in Bogut.

Over the summer, it seemed that they had a great addition with Al Horford. If Boston happened to be the ones to acquire Andrew Bogut, they won’t need him to play huge minutes, but he could help boost the 15th ranked defense in the NBA. Another advantage that Boston happens to have is they their treasure chest of prospects and picks that would give them the upper hand on any team . These are just two of several teams who have reasons for why they would need Andrew Bogut.

This is just NBA Trade Rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt.
