Antonio Cocuzza is an Italian-born actor and playwright whose fearless storytelling and immersive performances are making waves on both sides of the Atlantic. Born to Sicilian parents in Italy, Antonio’s journey into the world of acting began early—at just 15 years old—when he discovered his passion for the craft. Since then, his path has been one of rigorous training, international exploration, and creative daring.

A Foundation Built on Excellence

Antonio honed his craft at l’Oltrarno – Scuola di Alta Formazione del Mestiere dell’Attore, an esteemed acting academy in Florence directed by the acclaimed Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino. There, he received a solid foundation rooted in classical and contemporary performance techniques, shaping his ability to embody complex characters with authenticity and depth.

Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a desire to expand his artistic range, Antonio will begin training at the legendary Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. Starting in September, this next step marks the continuation of a journey that has already enriched his dynamic skill set with international experience and method-based discipline.

A Playwright With a Purpose

In 2022, during a writing-for-stage workshop led by renowned Italian playwright Michele Santeramo—part of the Fabulamundi Playwriting Europe project—Antonio developed what would become his most personal and provocative work to date. The result: a bold new play titled “REMEMBER ME”, a dark comedy that asks audiences uncomfortable but necessary questions about mortality, fame, and the nature of modern spectacle.

The play centers on Marco, a young man dying of cancer who auditions to be featured on a fictional reality show called “Remember Me”. The show’s grotesque premise? To educate viewers on what happens after death by placing the dying participant’s body in a glass box and filming the decomposition process until only bones remain. Through biting satire and emotional intensity, the play challenges viewers to confront their own ideas of death, dignity, and success in an age of voyeuristic entertainment.

After being selected from the festival for the festival “Otto pezzi Unici” organised by Teatro della Pergola in Florence—one of the oldest and most renowned theaters in Italy, with a longstanding tradition of supporting contemporary voices—Remember me  was subsequently chosen for presentation at the Milan Fringe Festival, a nationally recognized platform dedicated to promoting emerging playwrights and innovative theatrical productions.

Artistic Vision and Impact

Antonio Cocuzza’s work transcends performance—he is a thinker, a provocateur, and an artist unafraid to tackle society’s taboos head-on. Whether through a gripping monologue or a haunting stage production, his goal remains constant: to stir conversation, to confront complacency, and to use theatre as a mirror to society’s most hidden fears and desires. His multicultural background, formal training in both Europe and the United States, and his deep commitment to authentic storytelling position him as one of the emerging voices redefining modern performance. With upcoming projects in both theatre and film, Antonio Cocuzza is an actor and writer to watch—bold, thoughtful, and utterly uncompromising.
