The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, take a 7-4 win over the Springfield Cardinals Monday night. The come-from-behind series finale win was led by Luke Tendler, who went 4-4 with a home run and three RBIs. The RoughRiders now sit at 40-48 for the year.
Tendler made the biggest impact in the seventh inning, hitting a single that tied the game. Jose Trevino would follow with a single of his own, sending the go-ahead run home. The RoughRiders took the lead at this point, 5-4, and would not surrender it for the remainder of the matchup. Trevino would end the night at 2-5, including that go-ahead RBI. Eric Aguilera continued his recent stretch of success, going 2-4 with a double, a run scored, and a walk. Andy Ibanez finished out the RoughRiders offensive highlights. He went 1-3, with a double, two runs scored, and two walks.
Texas Rangers top prospect Yohander Mendez started on the hill for the RoughRiders. He missed the quality start mark by just one earned run. He ended the night after six innings pitched, giving up nine hits, four runs (all earned) while walking two and striking out seven. Mendez did earn the win, improving to 6-6 for the season. Ricardo Rodriguez earned his second save of the season, pitching 1.1 innings of just one-hit baseball. He tossed just 19 pitches in the save, 24 for strikes.
