WASHINGTON, D.C., June 10, 2026. Washington, D.C. took another step toward becoming an international fashion destination as Global Couture U.S. produced the first runway presentation ever held at the United States Library of Congress. Fashion at the Library of Congress: Threads That Connect Us was a celebration of fashion as a universal language, bringing together designers from around the world to honor the cultures, traditions, and stories that unite us.
Led by Founder and President Raysa González, the historic production united Members of Congress, ambassadors, diplomats, artists, designers, and leaders for an evening celebrating creativity, innovation, and international exchange during the official observance of America’s 250th Anniversary.
Presented under the theme Threads That Connect Us, the runway highlighted fashion’s ability to bridge cultures through artistry, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Designers Jean Décor, Kayla Smith (K.Lookinghorse), Massiel Privé, Raysa Bonaparte, Benny Yovanka, Tony Vergara, Giannina Azar, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, and Martha de Royet presented collections inspired by the traditions, heritage, and creative identities of their respective countries.
Known for producing immersive fashion experiences, Global Couture U.S. combined couture with live music, dance, and performance art, inviting guests to experience not only each designer’s collection but also the culture, history, and inspiration behind it. Every presentation was designed to transport audiences into the world of the designer, transforming the runway into a celebration of global creativity.
The Library of Congress presentation reflects Global Couture U.S.’s continuing commitment to creating opportunities for both emerging and internationally recognized designers while helping establish Washington, D.C. as a city where fashion, culture, diplomacy, and innovation converge.
Through its annual productions, Global Couture U.S. continues to elevate international talent, foster cultural exchange, and strengthen Washington, D.C.’s growing reputation as a destination for world-class fashion and the arts.
