INSCMagazine: Get Social!

Diamonds are expensive, precious, exquisite clear stones that light up any memorable occasion – be it an engagement, wedding, valentine’s day, etc. Buying a diamond ring is a huge investment and can cost you an arm and a leg. Despite a diamond shining brightly, it is not easy to tell a real or fake diamond by just that.

There being many legit diamond jewellers in the market, there are also fraudsters who are ready to take advantage of desperate people who are looking for diamond rings. Do you want to purchase an authentic diamond ring? It is crucial for you to take your time. Do your research before choosing a vendor to trust. Perhaps you are looking for a diamond stackable ring, and you are not sure on where and who to buy it from, here are a few tips that will help you find one without being duped;

Have some knowledge about the 4c’s

Firstly, you will need to familiarise yourself with the language of diamonds. If you have been on the lookout for a diamond ring, you probably have come across the term 4c’s but might not know what exactly it means. Well, 4c refers to cut, clarity, color, and carat;

Cut- This is the most critical feature that you should look for to determine if the diamond is authentic. A well-cut diamond is bright (as it reflects light) and shines as opposed to a poorly cut diamond that has less shine and is dull.

Clarity- This refers to the blemishes or tiny imperfections (known as inclusions) in the diamond. You might need a magnifier to understand more about the clarity in diamonds as inclusions are not visible to the naked eye. The diamond clarity has grades FL (being the highest), IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, and I1. Remember, the lower the number of inclusions, the higher the price.

Color- Colourless diamonds are the most expensive. Color is graded form letter D-Z, D being the completely colourless and most expensive one.

Carat- This refers to the measure of the diamond’s weight. It is very crucial as it determines the size of the rind you purchase. The bigger the stone, the higher the price. However, consider the other C’s before your purchase as they may affect the overall weight of the diamond ring.

When buying the precious stone, it is imperative to buy a ring that has certification. The authenticity of the diamond is determined by its certification from Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Additionally, the certification of a diamond gives you insurance.In cases where the diamond sold to you is fake, you have the right to sue the company and claim for an authentic one.

Find a reliable jeweller

You do not want to lose your hard-earned cash over a fake diamond, do you? Find a jeweller you can trust. With the many imposters today in the market, it is crucial to have insight about the vendor before walking in their stores; you could make good use of reviews and referrals.
