The movie industry, as we know it today, had its start through a succession of technological advancements  in the early 19th century. The invention of photography, the discovery of the illusion of motion created by merging numerous still pictures, and the study of animal and human mobility were some of the earliest forms of entertainment. Later on, the revolution in the film world emerged with the introduction of further technological developments. Since then, the film business has witnessed extraordinary transformations, some of which are driven by the artistic visions of individual participants, or the idea of the motion picture. Nonetheless, the entertainment industry has been quite successful in capturing the imaginations of audiences worldwide for over a century.

Determined to contribute to the film business as no one has ever before, Nick Taylor became an actor. Taylor had always been interested in the arts from a very young age. Born in Jersey City, NJ in 1958, his father was an engineer and his mother was a housewife. As a child, he lived in several places including, Oxnard, CA, Fort Walton Beach, FL, Goldsboro, NC, and Willingboro, NJ. He studied at the New Jersey City University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media. To achieve his dream of becoming a renowned actor, he decided to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.

After completing his education, Taylor decided to put his acting skills to action, for which he started working as a handyman in the early 1980s at New York’s Actor’s Playhouse where Harvey Fierstein was debuting in Torch Song Trilogy. Luck turned out to be in Taylor’s favor when all his dedication finally paid off and he got a chance to work with Fierstein and Danny DeVito on the film Death to Smoochy in 2002. Later in this year, he also appeared in God is on Their Side. His tiring efforts resulted in the world receiving some terrific masterpieces including, Reign Over Me (2007), Taking Woodstock (2009), Smash Cut (2009), The Changing of The Guard (2010), The Attic (2010), I Smile Back (2015), Meet Chip and Ernie (2017), Call Me Beekman (2018), and Go with the Flow (2020).

Taylor successfully aced his television characters and appeared in shows including, One Life to Live (1991), 100 Centre Street (2001), Law and Order (2004), The Jury (2004), The New Chip and Ernie Show (2017), The Sinner (2018), and in several TV commercials as well.

After acquiring the desired success in his acting career, Taylor switched his attention to writing, directing, and producing. In 1991, he wrote and directed Rocky & Bullwinkle: One Last Story; in 1999, he co-wrote and directed A Clown in Babylon; in 2004, he co-wrote and directed Meet the Pitts; in 2010, he wrote the famous Paradise East; in 2017, he came up with the script of The New Chip and Ernie Show, and in 2018, he wrote the script of Call Me Beekman.

Along with writing and directing some all-time favorite movies, Taylor also explored his production skills. In 1991, he produced the award-winning Rocky & Bullwinkle: One Last Story. Later in 1995, he successfully co-produced the award-winning documentary Special K. In 1999, he managed to produce A Clown in Babylon while in 2003, he co-produced the award-winning Meet the Pitts. In 2010, he co-produced another award-winning film, Paradise East; and successfully produced The New Chip and Ernie Show as well as Meet Chip and Ernie.

Taylor is also a firm believer in social services, he won first place for his public service announcement of AIDS Awareness Competition sponsored by the New Jersey Health Council in 1993. His countless years of dedication enabled him to win the Best Director award ITN New Media Film Festival in 2011. The same year his film, Paradise East, won the Award of Excellence, at Indie Fest USA International Film Festival, Best Dark Comedy at New York International Film Festival, Best American Feature at International Film Festival Ireland, Best Directorial Debut at New York International Film Festival, and Silver Lei Award at Honolulu Film Awards. Undoubtedly, his passion for acting and determination for the film business can be witnessed through his countless achievements.
