Avon, OH (ForeFront Field) – Wednesday, June 3, Lorain County Leviathan FC defeated their rivals, the Cleveland Force SC, 3-1 at ForeFront Field.

This match was highly significant as it marked the opening game of the newly formed Orange Barrel Cup – a local derby series between Northeast Ohio’s USL League  with three teams (Leviathan FC, Cleveland Force, and Akron City FC) secured the first home victory in Leviathan Club history.

Match Highlights:

  • 20th minute (1-0) – Lorain County opened
    The scoring when Standout played Dakota
    Jonke unleashed a powerful long-range
    strike that beat the Cleveland
    goal
  

  • 26th minute (1-1) – The Cleveland Force
    quickly equalized after capitalizing on
    a misplaced pass to Leviathan
    attempted to play out from the back.
    The teams went into halftime tied.

  • 47th minute (2-1) – Immediately after
     the break, a Cleveland handball in
     The penalty area gifted the Leviathan
     a penalty kick.  Team captain Marko
     Valentic stepped up and converted
     It restored the lead.

  • 55th minute (3-1) – Dakota Jonke broke
    past the Cleveland defense to score his
    The second goal of the night, securing a
    two-goal cushion.

Lorain County’s defense managed the rest
of the game comfortably to seal the 3-1 win.
Dakota Jonke was named “Man of the Match” for his two-goal performance, with this victory, the Leviathan moved to a 2-1-1 record on the season and took an early advantage in the Orange Barrell Cup standings.
