The Winter Piano Festival 2025 is a remarkable event that brings together pianists from two distinct musical traditions: Spanish and Chinese. This festival, which takes place in the cities of León and Madrid, Spain, serves as a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas, techniques, and artistic interpretations among young musicians from these two countries.

 

The festival is led by three internationally renowned pianists: Ernest So, Giuseppe Devastato, and Cristina Cavalli. Their expertise and artistic vision have shaped this festival into an inspiring and educational experience for all participants. By facilitating this cultural dialogue, the event fosters a deeper understanding of different piano repertoires, techniques, and traditions, enriching both the performers and the audience.

 

A highlight of this year’s festival was the cultural-exchange concert that took place on February 4th, 2025, at the Concert Hall of the Conservatory of León. This special event featured talented Chinese pianists, including Claire Tang, Yan Ma, Xiaoxian Wan, Teresa Liang, Yanling Liu, Jinling Liu, Yucong Du, Yuhan Yang, Heyao Wei, Heyue Meng, Peggy Hui, and Yurui Li. Alongside them, several Spanish pianists studying at the local conservatory also performed, making the concert a true celebration of artistic collaboration.

 

The host institutions, Fundacion Eutherpe and Margarita Morais, and the Conservatorio Professional de Leon, with Director Teresa Bermejo Porto, were absolutely outstanding in celebrate this friendship in music.

 

The concert was a resounding success, drawing a large and enthusiastic audience. The program showcased a diverse selection of piano repertoire, reflecting both Spanish and Chinese musical influences. The passion and dedication of the performers captivated the audience, highlighting the power of music to bridge cultural differences and create meaningful connections.
