INSCMagazine: Get Social!

Business owners worldwide are looking for better and more efficient business operations. These methods need to be easy on the pocket and employee-friendly. Balancing the labor force and the company is very hard in the changing world where businesses are getting less labor-intensive. Here is where the role of a human resource expert comes into play. Eric Torigian, a C-suite advisor and founder of CHRO Solutions, sat down with us to explain what businesses need from the HR department?

Labor relations

The first and foremost thing a business owner would want from the HR department is to administer labor relations. Whether it is payroll management or attendance management, the HR department’s responsibility is to see that the workers are doing the job they are getting paid for. The reverse is true because HR is also accountable for the company and should ensure that employees are treated well and paid on time and adequately.

Eric believes the foundation of an HR department is the analytical skills and strong relationship sense to rebuild trust and avoid a strike or any kind of retaliation from the employees. Many times, Eric solved sticky situations like these when he worked in the corporate world and successfully maintained the peace between the workers and the companies. This is what secured him the reputation of being the best HR advisor in the country.

Business relations

Building solid relationships with other companies, especially during mergers and takeovers, is essential to ensure that the firm functions well. It is also imperative to have good relationships with all the concerned parties when restructuring businesses after bankruptcy, etc. In a situation like this, the CEO would expect an HR expert to have the ability to negotiate favorable agreements between the concerned parties and make the best possible transformation.

Be change-friendly and proactive

Transformative human resources mean working with the changes in the market, whether they are technological changes or social changes. The HR department should always be on top of the situation concerning change and improvement. Eric has gained HR experience in many companies, improved safety, and launched a comprehensive diversity improvement effort to include people from all walks of life. This also helps manage the company’s identity and reputation as inclusive and objective.

Be objective

CEOs always expect change and improvement in their current business model; to facilitate that, an HR expert should always look into restructuring when needed. Even though it is crucial to help CEOs and businesses save money, being in HR also means taking care of employees, helping them get better at their jobs, and giving them good opportunities to excel in their careers. This is why the HR department is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining high-performance teams and training them for any changes and restrictions in the business model at any given time.
