WWE crowns new Universal Champion

This article contains a spoiler, and if you did not watch WWE RAW, please don’t read past this point.

We have a new WWE universal champion.

Let me explain why we had a fatal-four way on tonight’s episode of RAW. Back at Summerslam this past August, we saw Seth Rollins have a match against  Finn Balor. Finn Balor ended up winning and becoming the 1st WWE Universal champion. However, that reign would not last long as Finn Balor was injured in that match and ended up relinquishing the title.

On the previous week’s RAW, it was announced by RAW GM Mickey Foley that they were going to have a series of matches to determine who was going to be in the main event of RAW tonight. So as RAW went off air last week, this was the fatal four way:

This would end up being the main event of RAW. It was announced that this would be an elimination match. First, to be eliminated was Big Cass as no one expected him to win the game. So then it was down to Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins. Many people expected the winner to be either Kevin Owens or Seth Rollins. What was shocking was how they got to the winner of the match.

As the match was going great, all of a sudden, Triple H returned to TV. He has been off TV since he lost the title to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 32. First Triple H would pedigree Roman Reigns and thus having Seth Rollins pin him. Then it was down to Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens and then came the swerve. Triple H performed the pedigree on Seth Rollins and then Kevin Owens would pin him and would become the 2nd WWE Universal Champion.

This ending left people in a stunned state of mind, and social media went up quickly as people were commenting on what happened. What is interesting to see is where WWE goes from here.
