2019 NBA Draft: Pelicans Select Zion Williamson At No.1

BROOKLYN, NY — What was once widely expected became official Thursday evening as the New Orleans Pelicans selected former Duke Blue Devils forward, Zion Williamson No.1 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Tabbed as the next transcendent generational type of talent not seen since LeBron James, Williamson averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 68 percent from the field in his line season down in Durham.


A 6’7 285-pound walking highlight waiting to happen every night, his trademark dunks became the stuff of must-see TV along with his wide grin smile and aw-shucks charismatic personality quickly enameled him to millions of fans worldwide.

Projected as a power forward down in the Big Easy, Williamson joins a suddenly-retooled Pelicans team following the blockbuster trade of Anthony Davis that has a backcourt of Jrue Holliday and Lonzo Ball, former Duke alums Brandon Ingram at SF and Jahlil Okafor at C
