In what is either one of the biggest blockbusters in recent NFL history, or one of the dumbest trades in history, the Philadelphia Eagles sent former 2016 No.2 overall draft pick in QB Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2021 3rd round pick and a 2022 second round pick that could possibly turn into a first round pick, pending if Wentz plays 70 percent of the snaps next season.

The Colts are currently high-fiving each other, just like the Vikings were, when the Eagles decided to draft Jalen Reagor over the stud slam dunk draft pick from LSU in WR Justin Jefferson. Let me just give you the breakdown on what Philadelphia had to give up to move up to draft at the time “their guy” in Wentz.

The Eagles where picking at 13th but traded Chip Kelly’s large contracts away to Miami sending CB Byron Maxwell and LB Kiko Alonzo and their 13th overall pick to move up to number 8. Then Eagles general manager Howie Roseman decided to put together a package deal for the Cleveland Browns to move from 8 to number 2 overall to draft Wentz.

The Eagles gave up five more players to move up to No.2 that was the 2016 1st Round pick, 2016 3rd round pick, 2016 4th round pick, 2017th 1st round pick and finally a 2018 2nd round pick.

Let this all sink in!

The Eagles gave up a total of seven players for a franchise QB, that by the way, never even started his new five-year contract of $128 million dollar deal, and they are sending him to former Eagles offensive coordinator and current Colts head coach Frank Reich, the man that turned Wentz into a MVP candidate four years ago.

Wentz is only 27, and if Reich can get him back to the old MVP-level Carson, not only would Reich look like a genius, but so would Colts GM Chris Ballad, as the Colts only gave up two players and take on $98 million of Wentz’s current contact.

If Wentz pans out, this will make the Colts a Super Bowl contender with a top five defense led by LB Darius Leonard, a loaded offensive line headlined by All-Pro LG Quentin Nelson, and from someone that lives in Philadelphia and covered the Eagles his whole life, the Colts getting the steal of the decade in a young—and still very talented—MVP-caliber QB in Wentz.
