The diamond router bit is a great tool to cut, polish, and shape hard materials such as granite marble, and stones. Owing to the proven precise results that these tools offer; they are preferably used in multiple industries where routing is required. 

To employ these tools, you need to adhere to safety principles, or else you will end up damaging the slab you are working on, router bit, and can even pose serious harm to the well-being of the worker. Here are 7 safety tips that you must follow for safe and efficient use of diamond router bit.

  1. Refrain from using force: To ensure routing safety, never put too much force while using the diamond router bit. Allow the router to work at its natural pace. Stop using the device if you hear unusual noise or vibration. 
  1. Safety protocol: You must follow the safety protocol by wearing the safety gear necessary to carry on routing in a protective manner. You must wear safety goggles to protect your eyes against dust and debris, gloves to shield your hands from probable cuts from sharp edges, masks to ensure you don’t inhale dust that can lead to respiratory disorders, and ear protectors to lower the effect of loud noise generated from the router. 
  1. Tightly secure the workpiece/slab: It is essential to secure the sab or workpiece you are working on to ensure it won’t slip or glide during routing which can result in uneven cuts and pose serious safety concerns. To secure the workpiece, you can fix it with the use of clamps. It is best to use the router table with a stable surface. If needed, you can place an anti-slip mat to keep your workpiece static while you are working on it. 
  1.  Unplug the router to adjust the bit: If you want to modify the bit, swap it  or repair it then the router has to be switched off.  Did you forget to unplug the  router and it starts accidentally while you are working on or adjusting it?  It can pose a serious threat to your wellbeing and the equipment as well. Once you reattach the router, you need to make sure its properly secured before you turn it on.
  1. Regularly inspect the route bit: You must inspect the diamond router bit regularly. Inspect it, especially before using it each time to look for any cracks, damage, or signs of wear and tear. Take corrective measures as soon as you locate any crack or damage to ensure that the bit works perfectly during routing and protects yourself against probable harm. 
  1. Ensure cleanliness or workspace: An unorganized workspace can result in accidents which is why you must keep your workspace organized and clean. To do so, you need to clean the workspace and tools before starting routing. It is better to use a dust collection system to keep the space clean from debris and dust particles. 
  1. Adequate posture: Maintain your body posture and hand grip while using a diamond router bit to secure yourself against any possible issue. To do so, move the router smoothly, enforce consistent pressure, maintain a firm grip, and avoid straining.
