The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, lose to the Corpus Christi Hooks Monday night, 7-2. The Houston Astros affiliate handed the RoughRiders their second-straight loss of the series and their sixth-straight loss in a row. The club now sits at 40-54 on the season, last in all of the Texas League.

The Hooks slammed RoughRiders starting pitcher Ariel Jurado for five runs in the bottom of the second inning, to take a 5-0 lead. Corpus Christi’s Bryan De La Cruz hit a three-run double, which was the highlight of the inning. Overall, top prospect Jurado tossed 6.0 innings, allowing eight hits and six runs (all earned). He walked one and struck out three.

Houston Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel threw three scoreless innings during his rehab stint, walking one and striking out three.

Royce Bolinger hit a RBI single in the seventh, finally getting the RoughRiders on the board. Jose Trevino accounted for the final run for the RoughRiders, hitting his own RBI single in the eighth inning. Andy Ibanez rounded out the last of the high points for Frisco, going 2-3 with a walk and a stolen base. The club hit just 2-11 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight men on base.

  • Jose Trevino extended his hitting streak to seven games with an RBI single in the eighth and has driven in 19 runs in his past 20 games.
  • With a single in the eighth, Isiah Kiner-Falefa pushed his hitting streak to eight games.
  • Jose Cardona snapped his seven-game hitting streak but extended his on-base streak to a season-high-tying 12 games.
  • With Monday’s loss, the Riders have matched a season-high with six consecutive losses.

The Frisco RoughRiders will take on the Hooks again, Tuesday night. Game two of the four-game set is scheduled to begin at 7:05 PM from Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas. Frisco will send Tyler Davis (0-1, 3.32 ERA) to the mound. He’ll take on Hooks pitcher Akeem Bostick (4-1, 3.67 ERA).
