The next film that will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to hit theaters will be James Gunn’s followup to the 2014’s blockbuster hit Guardians of the Galaxy. I am of course referring to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is set to hit theaters on May 5th, 2017. But May is still a ways a way, so us Marvel fans will need something to pass the time.

Marvel fans are reaching the point where they have analyzed Doctor Strange, the latest MCU film to reach theaters, to its max. Over the course of the last week, Marvel has gifted us with two awesome trailers. The first one was for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, while the second one was for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

But we are not here to talk about Spider-Man. We are here to talk about Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and of course, Baby Groot! But before we go any further, let’s watch the trailer one more time. Or maybe five or ten times.

Ok, now that we have taken in Baby Groot’s awesomeness a few more times, let’s discuss. Below are five thoughts and questions I have about the trailer, or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in general.

Prediction: The best scene will see Baby Groot kicking ass to the tune of a fun 70’s tune

Hands down the biggest takeawey from the first trailer for Guardians two is the fact that Baby Groot is going to be freakin awesome. He is certainly the leading candidate to be this Marvel fans favorite character in the sequel, despite Star-Lord being my favorite in the first film. Baby Groot showed a mischiveious and child-like innocence about him in his scene with Rocket here. But he also showed some ferocity that he has inside him while taking down Ravenger.

And it is that ferocity that leads me to my prediction for the film: Baby Groot is going to have the best scene in the film. And in this scene he will be taking people down left and right, all with an awesome song playing in the background. You know you can picture it. Baby Groot is running around, extending his arms and whipping some bad guys around. He will be screaming “I am Groot!”, while a song like Todd Rundgren’s Bang the Drum All Day.

Will Eye of the Tiger be a part of Awesome Volume Mix 2?

We know Sylvester Stallone has a part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. But we do not know who he will be playing, with some rumors suggesting he will be a member of the Nova Corps, while other rumors suggest he could be a Ravenger. But when you place the man who played Rocky in a film that is going to have a great soundtrack, the obvious question is, will the song widely associated with the character be a part of the movie?

With an actor of Stallone’s stature, it is a good guess he will have at least one big scene. In said scene, would it not be great to see him doing his thing to the tune of Eye of the Tiger? Speculation will be all over the place in regards to what songs will be on the soundtrack until the full list is released. So far we know Fox on the Run, will be on there based off the trailer, but that is the only song to play. Only time will tell if we will get to see Stallone once again have a great scene to the sounds of Survivor.

How long will we have to wait before our first look at Ego the Living Planet?

One of the biggest arcs of the sequel will revolve around Kurt Russell’s character, Ego the Living Planet. Ego is Star-Lord’s father, and many people are interested to find out how exactly a planet can have a son. In addition, fans want to see how the character will look, and how Russell will bring a living planet to life. But the first trailer kept all of this a mystery, as Russell was completely absent over the course of the two minutes and twelve seconds we were given.

But how long will we have to wait? With the film just under five months away, the next trailer we get will likely come in February during the Super Bowl. We are not likely to get many Guardians photos in Entertainment Weekly until they are on the cover, which will likely be after the next trailer. So when all is said and done, unless Marvel wants to give us an extra holiday present, we will likely have to wait until at least February until we see Ego.

Awesome Volume Mix 2 will be just as, well awesome, Awesome Volume Mix 1

As mentioned above, Fox on the Run was the song that plays in the background during the first trailer. And boy does it work perfectly. It is a fun and upbeat tune that fits the feel of the first film. Based on the footage that was shown at this years Comic Con, there is also speculation of two other songs that will be a part of the film: Come a Little Bit Closer and The ChainListening to these songs, I can easily picture them along with the Guardians in action. Simply put, they work, and based off these three songs alone, I have total faith that this soundtrack will be great, and I am willing to guess better than the original.

Now I also have to make a few predictions on songs, because it’s just too fun. My first candidate is one I mentioned earlier, Bang the Drum all Day. I really would like to see that paired with Baby Groot. Another strong contender is ELO’s Don’t Bring Me DownEvery time I hear that song now I cannot help but think it would be great paired with Star-Lord flying around in space during an epic space battle. Take the Money and Run by Steve Miller Band could work in multiple spots. Since it references two young lovers, it could easily go with Star-Lord and Gamora. Or of course, when Baby Groot runs off with the bomb, as he is taking it and running.

A cameo from Kevin Bacon or John Stamos would be fantastic

In the first film, both Kevin Bacon and John Stamos got a name drop. Ever since I left the theater for Guardians of the Galaxy, I have hoped to see a cameo by one or both men in the sequel. It would just be a great nod to the first film also no doubt a funny moment. The trailer gave us our first nod back to the first Guardians film, as Baby Groot rode on Rocket’s shoulders. One of the most iconic scenes in the first film saw the opposite, with Rocket on Groot’s shoulders.

So with the throwbacks already set to be a part of Guardians 2, what’s stopping a surprise appearance from one of these two men? What do you want to see him Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? What songs do you hope are a part of the film’s soundtrack? Tell us in the comments!
