While the Atlanta Braves’ rotation may feature a host of fresh faces, their projected lineup will look fairly similar to the one that finished the 2016 season by averaging just 4.03 runs per game, good enough for the second-worst mark in the majors. The Braves simply have to hit more home runs after they went 625 plate appearances without a homer to begin the year. Their lineup looks much more
After taking an in-depth look at the 2017 Atlanta Braves and their fantasy-relevant hitters, the next logical step would be their staff. Now, the Braves revamped their starters to the point that you probably could not guess them in 100 tries. Which is good for you, because most of them are not worth considering, though one tempting sleeper does sit at the bottom of the rotation. [Jeff] The Starters Julio
Last season, the Atlanta Braves were not exactly a hot bed of fantasy baseball production. Outside of Freddie Freeman’s #36 rank on ESPN’s Player Rater, no Brave was in the top 80. Matt Kemp and Julio Teheran were #82 and #86, but those three were pretty much it in Atlanta last year. This year will be more of the same, with those three in the top 101 by FantasyPros expert
The Atlanta Braves, who are in somewhat of a transition period, have signed two veteran starting pitchers. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey and Bartolo Colon will be pitching in the new SunTrust Park Stadium in Cobb County next season. While neither are top of the line pitchers anymore, both can eat a ton of innings and will act as a veteran presence in the clubhouse. Both pitchers were signed to one-year deals.
Many have been expecting the Atlanta Braves to be quite active during the 2016/17 MLB offseason, and they've gotten things underway in a hurry by signing right-handed starter R.A. Dickey to a one-year, $8 million deal, the team announced. They backed that up 24 hours later by luring Bartolo Colon away from the New York Mets on a one-year, $12.5 million deal, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal and others.
The Atlanta Braves managerial search has officially come to a close. Over this past week, it was rumored that it was down to a three-man race between Brian Snitker, Ron Washington, and Bud Black. Snitker managed the team for a good portion of 2016 following the firing of Fredi Gonzalez. Ron Washington is currently the third base coach for the Oakland A's, and served as the manager from 2007 through 2014,
On July 3rd, the Atlanta Braves are playing the Miami Marlins in a historic game. It is historic because they are playing at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. It will be the first professional contest to take place at an active military base. They ended up building a 12,500 seat stadium and it is expected to sell out. This scenario is getting compared to the film Field of Dreams as
The Los Angeles Dodgers have added right-hander Bud Norris and minor league outfielder Dian Toscano from Atlanta in exchange for a pair of minor league pitchers Phil Pfeifer and Caleb Dirks, both teams announced. (more…)
The Atlanta Braves weren't supposed to contend this year. Yet, the team finds itself right in the thick of the N.L. East playoff race. The winning ways are likely to extend beyond this year, as the Braves are set up nicely for the future with a deep group of pitchers in their minor league system. And it's only getting stronger. Touki Toussaint was the Arizona Diamondbacks 14th overall selection in
It is the most wonderful time of year yet again as the sound of the crack of the bat combined with the popping of the gloves fills the air in baseball stadiums across America.
