Lupita Nyong’o’s C.G.I. character, known as Maz Kanata. Her picture only shows her face with the tracking dots, thus still leaving her character’s appearance a mystery. According to Vanity Fair, Maz Kanata is some sort of smuggler or pirate. And judging by another photo, featuring her cohorts, they seem the type one would find hanging out at The Mos Eisley Cantina. Finally, Gwendoline Christie was confirmed to be playing the first female stormtrooper, or at least the first to actually be identified as female. Judging by her snazzy chrome armor, the character of Captain Phasma is some sort of elite trooper. It’s nice to see that gender equity actually existed “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far way”, especially for The Empire. Vanity Fair’s Star Wars photo spread may satiate fans for a while, but only just. With a seven month wait until its December 18th release date, more set photos and new trailers would certainly be welcomed by the fans.
