Star Trek Beyond has been one of the most eagerly anticipated films of 2016. Returning for the third installment of the franchise are regulars Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto,Zoe Saldana, and the late Anton Yelchin. But they are joined by a relatively new face to the Hollywood movie scene, Sofia Boutella.

As a 34-year-old, Boutella isn’t the youngest fresh face on the movie scene, but she seems to have found a niche in the action movie world.Judging by her catalog of films, it seems that is suiting her just fine.

In addition to Star Trek Beyond, Boutella had a supporting role in the 2015 film, Kingsman: The Secret Service. She played Gazelle, the blade-legged assassin. If that wasn’t enough to satisfy an action film buffs desires, than maybe her role as the title character in Universal’s Mummy reboot will do the trick.

Action and violence aren’t the only tricks to Boutella’s trade. She’s actually a very accomplished dancer, taking up hip hop and street dancing at a young age. Boutella has been on tour with Madonna, and has appeared in videos for Michael Jackson, Ne-Yo, and Nike.

Many are still unaware of Boutella’s existence in American pop culture. Born in Algeria, she’s had very little exposure to the mainstream market. She got a lot of recognition for her role in Kingsman, which saw her use green-screen leggings to mimic her razor blade legs. It perfectly showed off her amazing choreography as well

Boutella isn’t an accomplished actress as of yet, after all she’s only got three major motion pictures under her belt, but given time you can expect there to be a whole collection of Sofia Boutella films. So, start paying attention, because this is one actress that’s about to take off.
