A rich history, a serious approach to the improvement and organization of trails, and huge hiking trails, all characterize many routes in North America, of course, this mainly concerns the USA and Canada. There are a lot of routes here, but it is easy to distinguish the three most significant, which together are called the Triple Crown of Hiking.

In this article, we will tell you about the most popular and interesting hiking trails in America. Well, if you are just planning your hike and are already tired of the routine, then you can visit a casino in NZ and relax at home.

The Continental Frontier Trail

The trail begins just beyond the continental fault of the Rocky Mountains and covers an area from Mexico to Canada. Hiking on it takes up to 6 months on average. Every year about 20 people dare to complete this difficult route completely. However, the trail, as it often happens, can be divided into parts and run for many years. The infrastructure of the trail is good, but there are quite difficult sections. In general, there is a strict set of rules on the trails of the USA, which must be followed to complete the route in relative safety. And of the dangers that lie in wait for desperate tourists on this trail, it is possible to note severe weather conditions, hypothermia, a meeting with bears, and even cougars. This is the longest route of the Triple Crown.

Pacific Ridge Trail

Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a hiking and equestrian tourist route that runs along the system of mountain ranges along the Pacific coast of the United States from the border with Mexico to the border with Canada. The route of the trail runs away from large settlements through picturesque corners of wild untouched nature. It is the westernmost and second-longest route from the Triple Crown.

Every year at the end of April, a Kick-off day is held on the 20-mile trail from the border with Mexico near Lake Moreno — a gathering for tourists traveling along the route for the first time. Along the entire route there are so—called “Angels of the trail” – volunteers engaged in maintaining the trail and halts, helping tourists, for example, organizing caches of drinking water in arid areas.

Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is a hiking trail in the North American Appalachian mountain system, from Mount Katahdin (Maine) in the north to Mount Springer (Georgia) in the south. It is almost impossible to determine the exact length since there are several alternative paths. The highest point on the way is Mount Klingmens—House 2025 m. The most popular route of the Triple Crown.

Currently, tourism along this route is very popular. There are dozens of Appalachian Trail clubs in the USA. From spring to autumn, thousands of tourists pass along the route (or part of it). The youngest conqueror of the trail was 6 years old when he and his parents overcame the route in 8.5 months.

67-year-old Grandmother Gatewood walked this trail 3 times with minimal equipment, since then her hikes along this trail are cited as examples of the tourist destination “Light Walking”.

Trans Canadian Trail

The Trans Canada Trail, officially The Great Trail, is the longest hiking trail in the world. The trail connects the shores of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans. The total length of the trails as of 2019 is approximately 24 thousand kilometers.

The route was being developed for about 25 years and was fully completed only by 2017. The trail consists of more than 400 independent routes and runs through 15,000 communities across Canada.

Not so long ago, the Canadian DanaMeis (Dana Mase) became the first to complete the route. It took him 10 years to do it!
