INSCMagazine: Get Social!

Jet-setting may be a bit of an exaggeration, but many students feel the need to see a bit of the world, and before the dreaded prospect of settling down arrives, it’s time to get things in perspective. There is more to life than what you grew up with. College itself has introduced you to new people with different backgrounds and fresh ideas, fresh to you that is, because your own story may have been an eye opener to them too. You’ve done the hard yards of school and college, now let’s see what else is out there. But where? Here are few Luxury Travel Tips for Jet-Setting Students

You Don’t Have to Go Far to Find Something Different

There are plenty of places in the US where things are done differently from what you’re used to. If you’re from a small town in the country, you may want to experience a big city, walking the streets of New York, seeing places you’ve heard of in songs or seen in movies. If you do decide to get out of the US, the Caribbean is an attractive option: not too far away but a different world.

Drink rum punch with Rihanna in Barbados or share some goat curry with Nicky Minaj in Trinidad. Walk in Bob Marley’s footsteps in Jamaica. Whatever you choose to do, it’s going to cost money, so the first thing to do is get a credit card, and there are plenty to choose from. Although ideally, lenders want to see a long, respectable history resulting in a good credit score, they are also interested in customers who are going to make money from them in the future, so there are options for younger adults and if you look for credit cards for students or words to that effect, you will find some options.

Choose Your Card Wisely

Learn the lingo of the credit industry so you know what APR means and you understand all about repayment terms, penalties and so on. Don’t necessarily go for the one that will give you the most money; if there is another that will provide a slightly lower limit but offers better terms, maybe you should go for that one. Remember, all too soon you will be back in the real world. If you want to give yourself an easy way of receiving money as well as spending it, you might consider PayPal, or one of the other online specialists.

They offer physical cards you can use anywhere, and you can link them to your bank account to transfer funds as and when you need them. They can enable people to put money in your virtual pocket while you’re away, be it a friend who owes you a few bucks, a parent who suddenly has a bit to spare or even someone you can do some work for from your exotic location. The credit card will be your main lifeline, though, and it gets you on the ladder, so when you are back home, you will be a card-carrying member of the working population, ready to get on with your life and with a thousand stories to tell already.

Live Within Your Budget

Another very important luxury travel tips is even though you may have the freedom to travel and live your own life now, keep an eye on the budget and choose go to economical. Look for cheap air tickets, which may mean flights at inconvenient times, but hey, you can handle that. Wherever you go, get a safe, dry but affordable roof over your head, even if it doesn’t have a restaurant or even a bar in the building. The real luxury stuff can come later when you’ve got some real money.
