Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate is multipurpose software that can be used to convert videos, burn DVDs, download videos from YouTube, burn desktop screens, and set up a media server. Video converter is available for Windows and MacOS.

Having video converter software is more a necessity than an option if we go back around ten years. In the past, our mobile devices were unable to play video formats other than MP4 and 3GP. Playing a video with a resolution higher than 480p was limited to most people’s dreams. Over time, our devices have become more capable, but that does not mean that the usefulness of video converters has diminished in the past.

Your device may be able to play 1080p or even 4K video. But it still falls short of storage. In addition, playing high quality videos requires extra battery consumption. Unfortunately, our smartphones can barely last more than a day. Therefore, decreasing the size and quality of a video is a considerable option.

There are several video conversion apps out there. And Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate is one such software that you can use to convert video and audio files. Today, I would like to give a brief explanation about Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for Windows 10.

Video Converter Ultimate has a simple interface. It may not be the most attractive video converter, but all the features and tools are arranged in a tabbed view. You do not have to start a search operation to find basic options.

On the first screen itself, where the default tab is Convert, you may find the option to add files and folders from your computer or you can directly upload files from a DVD or CD. The bottom of the software window displays the location of the output folder, which you can change at your leisure by clicking the three dot button.

Clicking the Settings button next to your name at the top of the window explores more options.

Features:

As mentioned, Wondershare Video Converter has a tab with the Convert, Burn, Download, and Media Server tabs. I will describe the functions of Convert tab one by one. Of course by its name, the Convert tab includes all the options you need to convert videos stored on your computer or an optical disc. You can upload your desired files using the Add Files button. To upload a complete folder, click the drop-down list next to Add files.

The software will take a while to list videos depending on the number of videos you have selected. Several options include metadata editing, subtitle embedding, and video editing options that allow you to modify various aspects of the output video file. You can even convert 360 videos as long as the original video is 360 degrees.

Wondershare video converter supports a multitude of video formats including MP4, AVI, WMV, MPG, MKV, FLV, 3GP, WEBM, etc. Even…you can convert vob to MP4 easily. There are video conversion presets for various devices made by Apple, Samsung and game consoles like Xbox and PS4.

You can convert multiple video files using a single action and even merge them into a single file. The video converter also supports hardware acceleration if your machine has an external graphics card.

It took about five minutes to convert the 1 minute 1080p MP4 clip to a 4K MKV clip. So the conversion time is pretty decent. The same clip was converted to 1080p AVI in two or three seconds.

One thing to note is that not all output formats have the option to disable high speed conversion. Thus, in the first case (4K MKV), I initially assumed that hardware acceleration and high speed conversion were enabled by default for output formats for which the tick option was not there.

I later realized that the high speed conversion option was only available for some output formats. Similar is the case of GPU acceleration, which is present for 4K MP4, but not for 4k MKV. I hope there may be some technical reason behind this.
