FRISCO, TX — With one week before the NFL season kicks off between the Dallas Cowboys and the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Micha Parsons is traded to the Green Bay Packers.
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys dealt the disgruntled four-time Pro Bowl selection after the former Penn State standout requested a trade on August 1st, due to stalled contract talks, for two first round picks and DT Kenny Clark.
Parsons, who agreed to a new four-year, $188 million contract, with $136 million guaranteed, per his agency Athletes First, becomes the highest-paid non-QB in the league, via Tom Pelissaro and Jane Slater of NFL Network.
The 6’3, 245-pound 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie Of The Year, accumulated 256 total tackles and 52.5 sacks over 63 games since being selected 12th overall out of Penn State in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Now, the main focal point on defense for a team that is already considered a Super Bowl contender, thanks to the emergence of quarterback Jordan Love, and drafting one of the top wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft in Matthew Golden, is he the missing piece that puts them on par with the aforementioned Eagles, Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams or better yet over the top?
Time will tell.
But with Parsons in Green Bay, Titletown could be set for a potential homecoming of another Lombardi trophy next spring.
